'Money Smart for Small Businesses' Program on Agenda

Pathfinder Bank collaborates on new FDIC, SBA curriculum

    "Money Smart for Small Businesses," an instructor-led training curriculum developed jointly by the FDIC and SBA, will present "Financial Fundamentals for a Successful Business" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Genesee Grande Hotel, 1060 E. Genesee St., Syracuse.

    The event is sponsored by Pathfinder Bank, National Industries for the Blind and the US Business Leaders Network.

    Cost for the training is $10. Seating is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. Online re

    According to Ron Tascarella, senior vice present and chief credit officer at Pathfinder Bank, the multi-level modules offered in the "Money Smart for Small Businesses" curriculum provide introductory training and is focused on new and aspiring entrepreneurs who also may have a disability.

    In addition to providing participants with the fundamentals of owning and running a business, the curriculum serves as a foundation for more advanced training and technical assistance. Topics covered during the program will include financial, time and risk management, record keeping and succession planning.

    The program will include guest speakers and a panel presentation of regional entrepreneurs.
