Country Fair Acquires Stewart’s Shop in Mexico

Convenience chain popular in Pennsylvania
By Lou Sorendo

Country Fair has purchased the former Stewart’s Shop on state Route 104 East in Mexico, according to Brian Cummings, secretary for the Greater Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Country Fair is a chain of over 70 convenience stores-gas stations that are mainly concentrated throughout northwestern Pennsylvania. It also has seven locations in New York state, primarily located in the western part of the state. It also has five locations in Ohio.

The development is good news for the area, which recently saw Ostrander's Village Market, located at the intersection of state Route 104 and U.S. Route 11, Maple View, close.

Cummings said the closing was “shocking news to me.” He did not know why the business closed or whether it is for sale. Ostrander’s employed 32 workers.
