Ledbetter, four others to deliver Ernst & Young lectures at SUNY-Oswego

Gender equity in the workplace focus of powerful series

Headlined by an appearance by Lilly Ledbetter, the spring 2013 edition of SUNY Oswego's Ernst & Young Lecture Series on Gender Equity in the Workplace will launch in February.

All sessions will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

• Feb. 14 at the Campus Center auditorium: "Gender, Education and Work: Comparing Brazil and the U.S." Tania Ramalho, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in Oswego's School of Education, will compare women's lives and roles in the two countries, particularly with reference to education and work.

• Feb. 28, Sheldon Hall ballroom: "Equal Work, Equal Pay." Ledbetter, famed for challenging her former employer, Goodyear tire company, for gender discrimination in pay, will appear thanks to support from Robert Feinberg, SUNY Oswego class of 1978, and his wife, Robbi, as well as Ernst & Young and several college departments.

• March 14, Campus Center auditorium: "Women and Work in Lebanon." Ina Pfeifer Issa of Cross Cultural Management in Lebanon will examine women's expanding work opportunities and their continuing challenges, as well as attitudes toward women's work in the Middle Eastern nation.

• April 4, Campus Center auditorium: "Women, Politics and Work in the Middle East." Lisa Glidden, associate professor of political science, will present a comparative look at the public lives of women in the region, especially the widely varying circumstances of rural and urban women.

• April 25, Campus Center auditorium: "Strategies for Advancing Women's Success." Jocelyn Egan, senior vice president of Discovery Solutions and a 1984 alumna in marketing, will talk about her career experiences and give audience members advice about her lessons learned on the road to success.

Feinberg and his wife endowed the Ernst & Young series 10 years ago with a matching gift from his employer, global accounting and business advisory firm Ernst & Young.
